Oh Crap. My Parents Joined Facebook.

Posted on November 7, 2013

The primary Facebook demographic isn't under 25.

Move over kids, we’re taking over Facebook.

Let’s face it. We’re not cool. Our kids do not want to come hang out at our parties anymore. And they especially don’t want to see us at theirs.

And apparently we’re not supposed to be commenting on those duck-faced “selfies” and pong championship pictures from college – despite how whimsically-witty and grammatically-correct our “two-cents” can be. And do they really think we don’t know what’s in those red solo cups? Okay, point taken.

And it seems that the only thing worse than seeing our profile on their “Friends” list, is seeing our profile popping up on any of their friend’s “Friends” list! Is it really a surprise that they’re “so outta here,” Mom and Dad?

It’s true. We showed up and ruined all their fun! And they’re leaving in droves.

No longer the primary social playground for teens, Mom and Dad have taken over the Facebook network. An influx of a predominantly adult presence, and business brands aggressively targeting the online consumer, are adding up to a dramatic defection of the under 25 sect over to Instagram.

The playing field is wide open. Are you listening, Marketeers?

Game on!
